PETIT CHABLIS 2008 Domaine Denis Pommier 2008 was a brilliant vintage for white burgundy, and this is no exception. Perfect as an aperitif and with fish.

BOURGOGNE HAUTES CÔTES DE BEAUNE 2001 ORGANIC Domaine Didier Montchovet 2001 was an amazingly successful vintage for Didier Montchovet. This is now mature classic white burgundy, with wonderful aromas of straw, nuts and fresh lemons.

BOURGOGNE VÉZELAY "La Chevalière" 2009 Domaine Élise Villiers Impeccable winemaking, where chaptalisation is only used sparingly, and often not at all, to give wines of beautiful purity. Faintly floral, with a touch of minerality, this cuvée is entirely vinified in tank, and drinks earlier than "Le Clos".

BOURGOGNE VÉZELAY "Le Clos" 2009 Domaine Élise Villiers This is more closed, more mineral than the "Chevalière", but will open up with time. Matured in 600 litre demi-muids (large oak barrels), but shows virtually no oak flavours - the wine is matured in this way to round out the flavours.

CHABLIS 2008 Domaine Denis Pommier Fine, elegant Chablis - sleek, but with nice fruit.

BOURGOGNE Chardonnay 2008 Domaine Diconne Despite the generic name on the label, this is actually declassified Auxey-Duresses. The wine is delicious, classic white burgundy, with perfect weight and balance. It has been lightly filtered, and a fine sediment is visible on the sides of the bottles - but this does not transfer itself to the glass, and has no effect on the flavour.

BOURGOGNE HAUTES CÔTES DE NUITS Pinot Beurot 2008 Domaine Thevenot-Le Brun This is brilliant. 100% new oak, made not from Chardonnay, but from Pinot Beurot (known as Pinot Gris in Alsace). Very rare, very yummy.

BOURGOGNE HAUTES CÔTES DE NUITS "Clos du Vignon" 2008 Domaine Thevenot-Le Brun This is from Thevenot-Le Brun's most favoured vineyard, which they own in its entirety (rare in Burgundy). 60% of the wine is fermented in oak barrels, 40% in tank, and is marked by new oak, which adds a judicious seasoning to the flavour. A great success in this vintage.

POUILLY-FUISSE "Lamure" 2006 Domaine Romanin Very high quality Pouilly-Fuissé, very gently oaked, built to last.

CHABLIS 1er Cru "Côte de Léchet" 2008 Domaine Denis Pommier This wine from the Pommier cellar always displays a floral side, as it does in this top quality, delicious vintage.

CHABLIS 1er Cru "Beauroy" 2008 Domaine Denis Pommier A richer, fuller wine than the Côte de Léchet, with more oak treatment. A positively majestic wine in this vintage, but still supported by characteristic Chablis steeliness.

SANTENAY "Le Chainey" 2007 Domaine Claude Nouveau Impeccably made white burgundy - with brisk, fresh flavour.

SAINT ROMAIN "La Combe Bazin" 2009 Domaine Pascal Prunier Grown-up white burgundy - impressive depth of flavour, deft use of oak; the 2009 is a bit richer than the 2008 (which it follows on from) owing to the warmer summer in 2009.

SAINT AUBIN 1er Cru "Les Murgers des Dents de Chien" 2006 Domaine Jean-Charles Fornerot A recent discovery - I am really impressed by the whites from this small estate based in Saint Aubin. This vineyard, "Les Murgers des Dents de Chien" is the Puligny end of the appellation - in fact there is only a small stretch of scrubland between it and Le Montrachet. Proper grown-up white burgundy, very gently oaked with charm and finesse, and the ability to age gracefully.

MEURSAULT "Les Narvaux" 2007 Domaine Jean-Pierre Diconne Still tight, holding back - should be decanted several hours before drinking, and drink cool, not cold. A very bright future here over the next few years.

MEURSAULT "Les Grands Charrons" 2009 Domaine Pascal Prunier-Bonheur Full, rich, cleverly oaked Meursault.

PULIGNY-MONTRACHET 1er Cru "Les Champs Gains" 2007 Domaine Jean-Charles Fornerot A new addition - this is a step up from M. Fornerot's St. Aubin - a richer, but also more fascinating wine - brilliant, classic white burgundy.
