Italian Wines

BORGESE BIANCO 2010 DOC Castelli Romani - Cantine di Campoverde (White)
Surprisingly interesting for a wine of this (very reasonable) price. It is quite soft, and really benefits from chilling.

  £5.95

VIN SANTO "Il Santo" Nistri (Sweetish white) Half bottles
Vin Santo is an Italian speciality. This is a fine example, and excellent value. Although fairly sweet it is best drunk on its own, or dunked with cantuccini.

  £5.95

MONTEPULCIANO D'ABRUZZO "Colle Cavalieri" 2009 Cantina Tollo (Red)
This is been a spectacular success. Rightly, too - it is utterly delicious, with lots of fruit, but also real vinosity.

  £6.95

VERDICCHIO DEI CASTELLI DI JESI 2010 Colonnara (White)
An interesting, highly individual flavour. Fresh tasting - goes well with seafood.

  £7.50

IL VOLANO 2007 IGT Rosso di Toscana - Il Molino di Grace  (Red)
From a Chianti producer, this is a blend of 70% Sangiovese and 30% Montepulciano. Recommended.

  £8.95

COPERTINO Rosso 2005 Leone de Castris (Red)
From the heel of Italy - a delicious drink. Here is Burton Anderson's description of Copertino: "Deep ruby, velvety, rich in aroma and flavour, it has a nicely bitter undertone and improves with 4 - 10 years." A description that perfectly fits this example.
Recommended.

  £9.95

CHIANTI CLASSICO 2002 Fattoria della Aiola (Red)
Excellent Chianti: soft, with a touch of spice. Delicious drinks.

  £11.50

VALPOLICELLA Ripasso "Campolieti" 2009 Luigi Righetti (Red)
Try this and discover a whole new dimension of Valpolicella: this is rich, chocolatey, with notes of vanilla from oak ageing.

  £12.50

AMARONE della Valpolicella "Capitel de Roari" 2008 Luigi Righetti (Red)
This is still settling down - all the pieces have not yet fallen into place. It will calm down, but could do with more time.

  £25.50
